High Five


The phrase 'High Five' is used to describe an action in which the palm of one’s hand is raised and slapped against another person’s similarly raised palm.

Example of Use: “I gave him a high five after he won the race.”


Interesting fact about High Five

There are many stories about the origin of the term 'high five,' but the two most-documented incidences occurred in 1977, when Glenn Burke and Dusty Baker of the Los Angeles Dodgers high fived, and when Derek Smith and Wiley Brown of the Louisville Cardinals began to exchange high fives during the 1978-1979 college basketball season.
